Recognized nationally, the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards honours individuals and organizations whose outstanding activities and achievements contribute to the well-being and future of our community. First West Capital’s Founder and National Managing Director, Kristi Miller, has been nominated in the category of Business & the Professions for her outstanding leadership and commitment to her community.
In addition to the award category in which they were nominated, all individual YWCA Women of Distinction nominees are eligible to win the Connecting the Community Award. As the only award category where the recipient is selected by popular vote, the Connecting the Community Award helps raise awareness for YWCA programs as well as vital funds for women and children across Metro Vancouver. Each Women of Distinction nominee chooses a YWCA cause that is important to her for a chance to donate $10,000, courtesy of Scotiabank, to the YWCA program of her choice.
Kristi has chosen to support quality early learning and child care. “As a mother of three, business person and former Chair of the BC Provincial Child Care Council, I understand the importance and value of quality, accessible child care. I believe passionately that early childhood development and care is the most impactful investment that we, as a society, can make,” says Kristi.
